Baklava
Ingredients
8-10 phyllo sheets
1/4 cup mixture of butter and unflavoured oil
1/4 cup roughly ground dry fruits
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 inch cinnamon stick
1-2 Cardamom
1 tbsp finely chopped pistachios
Method
Mix butter and oil and heat slightly.
Cut the filo sheet to the size of the baking tin. Grease the tin with butter oil and place the filo sheet. Apply butter oil on it, put another filo sheet on it and also apply butter oil on it and now add a layer of roughly ground dry fruit mixture. Repeat the layer again as above and cut it into square or diamond shape.
Drizzle warm butter on it and also in the corner. Now back it in the preheated oven at 180°C till it becomes slightly golden.
In a saucepan, take sugar and water, add cinnamon sticks and cardamom and make syrup. When the sugar melts and bubbles slightly, turn off the gas and cool the syrup at room temperature.
Coat the prepared baklava with sugar syrup and garnished with chopped pistachio.
Leave it for 3-4 hours to absorb the syrup nicely.
