Rustic Cherry Galette With Chocolate Sauce
Ingredients
For dough
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup chilled butter
1/4 cup ice cold water
1 tbsp powder sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp baking powder
For filling
1 cup pitted dried cherries
1 tbsp powder sugar
1 tbsp corn flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp butter cubs
For chocolate sauce
1 cup chocolate
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp corn flour
Method
In a bowl, add flour and butter and mix well with your fingers.Then add salt, sugar, baking powder and water to make a stiff dough. Pack it in a clean wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, add cherries and all the ingredients and mix well.
After 30 minutes preheat oven to 180°c.
Remove the dough from the fridge. Roll the dough into a rustic shape no shape necessary really until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Place the dough on baking tray.
Place the cherries in the center leaving a 2 inch border of crust. Top with the butter cubs.
Once the cherries are placed, fold the crust over top of them. Brush the crust with milk. Sprinkle it with the raw sugar. Bake the galette until the crust is golden, about 40 to 45 minutes.
In a saucepan add chocolate and milk, heat the milk and chocolate over low heat and keep stirring until the chocolate melts. In a bowl add 2 tablespoons of cold milk in corn flour and mix well to make a slurry. Add it to the chocolate mixture and mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Let cool.
Remove the galette from the oven and let cool slightly, then slice. Serve warm with chocolate sauce.
